Several years ago Vern Hyndman (a wise sage) taught me a valuable lesson. He said, Tony, its not what you know don't know that is the problem; its what you don't know that you don't know that bites you on the backside.

Here's what he meant; if you know you don't know how to write a resume, you can research how. If you know you don't know how to network, trust me, there are a gazillion websites that can help you with this. But if you don't know that you don't know how the culture of a civilian company works, the process of learning is probably going to be as painful as it is unnecessary.

Actually what you know you don't know is huge step towards finding the answer. What you don't know that you don't know is dangerous. In warfare, a warfighter who is unaware of their own ignorance will get himself and others killed. Ignorance is the horrible state of not knowing that you don't know. But how do you ask, when you don't know that you don't know?

So what the StraightTAP provides is information tailored to transitioning warfighters who know almost nothing about finding a job in the civilian world. The StraightTap fills in holes proactively... our perspective is that although experience is a good teacher, in the dangerous world of warfare, or in the critically important transition to civilian life, why find every hole by stepping in it? Let our experience work for you.
